How much should a magician cost ? ( how to know if its fair)

I often get asked how much the price for a magician should be and how you know if it's fair. After all, most people only come in looking for a magician for one event and then may look to book more if that goes down well. Thares a couple of ways to look at and answer this question, so I will break it down for you here with everything to keep in mind.

What to look for when booking a magician

. Do they have a website?

.Do they have a showreel?

. What reviews do they have?

These three things are the most crucial point when looking at a magician's cost; if they charge you £1000 and don't have the above things or are lacking, you should look elsewhere.

What to look for on their website

Start by looking at the website and see what photos they have. Are the pictures good? Are people amazed and reacting strongly to what the magician is doing? Is the information on the website good, and does it match what you're looking for at your event?

You could come across a magician with lots of experience in birthday parties and zero experience in wedding magic. Ensure that what you look for is backed up by the magician's background and if what you're looking for matches their expertise.

I specialise in close-up and wedding magic, so When you look at my website, you can see that and see that I have the experience and the know-how to deliver on what I promise.

What reviews do they have?

The next thing you want to do is look at their reviews. If a magician has been working for a while and is experienced, they should have a handful of reviews from former clients that will let you know if they have delivered in the past. Also, a top tip is to look at the magician's social media so you can see footage of their magic and see if that's what you want at your event.

I keep all my reviews collected in one place on my website so people can quickly click through and see them, as well as a lovely testimonial given to me by the bride and groom themselves after I performed on their big day.

Do they have a showreel?

Last but not least is to look at the showreel the magician should have A magician who has worked for a while will have a showreel that highlights their passion and best moments when performing. Always check this out, as it gives you a solid idea of what they offer and how it looks when they perform. All of this goes into what to expect from a magician and how you can determine if the price they give you is fair.

For example, you can look at my showreel here, which shows off some of my best moments when performing at a wedding!

The next step and what to keep in mind

If you have looked at all this and are happy with what you see, the next step is contacting the magician. Different magicians offer this in different ways, but getting in contact will lead to you getting a quote for a good and experienced magician. For a wedding magician, for example, You can expect anywhere from £250-£400 but bear in mind all the things to look out for that I have explained if they haven't got the above stuff on their website, or do not have a website then this price point should be a red flag!

After you contact the magician feel free to ask them questions and be sure they have what you want and are the right fit for your event
